Story time Hey guys, so today I thought I would do a story time kind of blog. This is one of the most scary experiences in my life nevermind just fostering experiences. Hope you enjoy. This must have been about 3 years ago now. Every Summer and Easter holiday we all go to our house in Spain. My parents worked so hard to have enough money for that house and I'm so grateful I get the opportunity to go on holiday a lot. Anyway so it was the end of the Easter holiday, we all had a great time and we were coming back home to England. We don't fly to and from Spain, don't know why but we just have always driven. So we were on our way back and Adam began to feel ill. We got to the Barcelona service station we always stop at , as it has a burger king, and Adam was being sick all over. Therefore we just thought it was sickness. When we were getting him cleaned up in the bathroom, I don't know how to describe this but he became like he wasn't in the room. I was talki

Facts and figures about Fostering  Hey everyone, today I thought I would speak about some interesting facts about fostering! It may help some people realise the need for more foster carers. Hope you enjoy! -Around 30 000 more children come into care over 12 months, with thankfully similar numbers actually going back to family or new adoptive families. - In England, 53 420 children were living with foster families on March 31st, 2017 -There are around 43 710 foster families in England. This is sadly still not enough with the amount of children that enter the care system. -A child enters the care system every 22 minutes, frightened and worried. Can you imagine being taken away from your parents when you were younger? -80% of children in foster care are fostered in the UK. This is why there still is a demand for foster carers as 20% of children still have no where to go. - Every year, 14% of foster carers and workers will leave for various reasons, they do need to be rep
Basics about fostering  Hey everyone, for this blog today, I’ve decided to tell you about some basic information about fostering. Hope you enjoy. If you would like to hear about my foster family story, make sure you check out my previous post! Types of Fostering Emergency – the child or children need somewhere safe to stay immediately. Just for a few nights until a plan is put in place for the child or children. Short term - the carers look after the child or children for a few weeks or even a few months. This is again to give chance for a longer-term plan to be put in place for the child or children. Long – term (could be permanent) – this is when there is no family of the child or children that could be able to take care of them. The child or children could stay with you until they are adult. This is the type of fostering my parents do. I am 100% not an expert, I am just saying this from my own knowledge or research. These are just the types I am aware of. Also,

Having high hopes for this blog, the feedback on it being a good idea means the world to me.  Anyway, moving on to what I would like to inform you about today- my foster family story. I believe sharing this is way for you to gain trust of me and understand why I can help current or future parents. I myself am saying my views from my experiences and I would like to point out that no foster family will have the completely the same story. This is just to let people know my experiences.  Roughly when I was 13, I met my first foster brother who’s name for this blog Ill call Johnny- for privacy reasons. Before this though was numerous checks and visits from the social worker. I can’t really remember all of that but if you are interested let me know and I’ll ask my parents about it. The first meeting we had was just for an hour at his pre

You're human we all have rubbish days I promise. Anyway it's rude to not introduce myself. I'm Nicole, a 17 year old girl with big aspirations, such as a career in Psychology. However there is something unique in my life which makes it a little bit different and yes you could definitely say interesting. I am a foster sibling. When I was around the age of 13 my biological parents made the decision to kindly foster other disadvantaged children to give them a life they deserved. This has proven to be very difficult at times, I'm not going to lie to you, however it does have many rewarding moments. This moves us swiftly on to what I mainly wish this blog to be about. Fostering. Fostering is a very daunting prospect that I don't think you can ever describe until you are experienc
